Naming You is the result of thinking about a Hungarian “folk taxonomy” of the creatures of the Adriatic Sea, that was introduced long after Hungary had lost Rijeka with the aim of keeping the memory of the Hungarian Adriatic alive.
An intriguing idea, given that only a few Hungarian biologists may have been familiar with these creatures. And the direct translations from Latin occasionally resulted in rather odd names like the “marine goose leg”.
What if these names were again to be twisted into English from Hungarian? What if, people without a memory of the sea should try to imagine how these creatures looked like, based on the names only?
